Today is International ME Awareness Day. From its opening words - “Pull yourself together, girl!” - Zoe’s Win acknowledges that young ME sufferers often have to convince family, friends or doctors that they do not choose to feel the way they do. In the story, teenage Zoe wins a writing competition, but not before she’s had to learn to adapt to her depression and the scepticsm of those around her. The second half of the book contains useful advice on ME symptoms. A mixture of poems, statistics, websites and reading lists, it blends common sense with sympathy.
