What’s so tiring?

I hope I speak for a number of my headteacher colleagues when I say, following the letters of Vimal Sharma (January 4) and Barbara Curry (January 11), that I am far from tired of my pupils, staff or parents. In fact, they are the only reason I am still a headteacher.

What I am heartily sick and tired of is working in an education system in which a school’s Sats scores are the only measure that counts in judging its effectiveness. This in turn requires us to accept the premise that a child’s attainment in maths, English and science can be measured as accurately as their height or weight, which every teacher knows is ridiculous.
