Selwyn has tried both sides of the fence. “For nine years I was a teacher married to a non-teacher who made few allowances for the time I worked at home. I’m now a non-teacher married to a teacher.

“We have two rules. One, we spend as much time as we can together at the weekends. Two, we spend the first half-hour at home processing the day.

Then, no more school.”
