Eric Forth, Glasgow-educated minister of state at the Department for Education and Employment, does not share his boss’s enthusiasm for restoring corporal punishment.

Unlike the Prime Minister, Forth presumably cannot chastise Gillian Shephard, but he tells his friends that as a child he was beaten on an almost daily basis for insubordination. He is now against the brutal practice.

Where was he educated? Jordanhill College School.
