Almost a quarter of teachers are worried about surveillance cameras in school, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers says.

It interviewed nearly 250 primary and secondary teachers and found that more than eight out 10 had CCTV in their school. More than half said it made them feel safe, but 23 per cent said they were concerned that there might be hidden cameras the staff and pupils did not know about. The union has set up a working group to produce guidelines for schools on surveillance.
