The BBC is running a competition that will enable the lucky winners to spend time in an edit suite and find out how the production process works.
The Wild Card competition is designed to launch the BBC’s Open Earth Archive. Entrants are challenged to create an advertisement for planet Earth out of the video clips, still images and audio clips in the Creative Archive. The competition has two categories, beginners and advanced, and a winner will be chosen from each section. Beginners’ entries should be created using the Easy Edit Suite and run for up to two minutes. Advanced entries can be created with an editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or Windows Movie Maker, using Creative Archive Licence Group content. Entries in this category can be up to three minutes long and should be burnt on to CD or DVD. Audio clips released as part of the Open Earth Archive should be used as a soundtrack for competition entries. The deadline for competition entries is April 30.
