More than 680,000 children took part in the Big Wild Read, the Reading Agency’s challenge for 2007. Children were encouraged to read six or more books over the summer, dealing with nature and the environment. They read more than three million books. The scheme ran in partnership with the Woodland Trust, which awarded tokens for children to plant trees.
