The award is open to any primary or secondary school whose responsible use of energy is evident throughout its curriculum and premises. It is not essential, however, for schools to generate their own renewable energy to qualify.

There is an award of pound;15,000 for the main prizewinner, and a second prize of pound;5,000. Winners must have clear plans for using the prize money to build on their work with sustainable energy. The closing date is December 4.
