The Easter Angels by Bob Hartman, illustrated by Tim Yonke (Lion, pound;8.99) presents a magical yet accessible approach to the concept of resurrection. This is the story of two angels - the golden giant guardian angel, Candriel, below, and the shrunken grey angel of death, Shakkath - who play a part in the Easter story. Finally it is Shakkath who is transformed. The illustrations, rendered in soft earth colours, complement the mystic quality of the text.
