THE HIGH Court has rejected the first legal challenge to a decision of the schools’ adjudicator. The metropolitan borough of Wirral must rethink its schools admission policy, after Mr Justice Latham threw out its challenge against the adjudicator’s ruling that the authority’s method of allocating pupils to its 23 secondary schools was “unfair”. The dispute turned on Wirral’s policy of “elevating” parents’ second-choice school to top of the list if the grammar school they put first was over-subscribed.
