Wise council?

Unsurprisingly, the response to my letter (TES, March 2) advocating co-operation between teacher unions and the General Teaching Council wasn’t wholly positive.

I would suggest that colleagues try searching the Internet sites for the GTC for Scotland. It was established in 1965, and has an annual feeof pound;25. Its relationship with the main Scots’ teaching union is positive.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Scottish teachers have a better deal than their English counterparts. Q.E.D.
