Unlike the irascible old men in pointy hats, modern magicians lead young children gently through complex realms.

The new software from BlackCat, Numeracy Activity Builder, uses a wizard to guide teachers step-by-step through creating interactive whiteboard activities for early years and 5-14 classes. The product is the second in a series, following the success of Literacy Activity Builder.

“Teachers simply add their own content to one of nine activity templates and the program automatically generates lesson activities with a professional finish,” says BlackCat, which is now part of Granada Learning.

Activities include matching, sorting, time, money, fractions, decimals and percentages.

Activities can be shared across a school, allowing colleagues to adapt and reuse resources, while the look and feel can be altered to suit ages and abilities, through different fonts, backgrounds, clip art and even languages.
