Ofsted’s chief press man Jonathan Lawson, is retiring after 10 years in the firing line.

The 55-year-old, best known as Chris Woodhead’s loyal voice, says he enjoyed wild times. “We often used to think, as we read The TES and other papers, that if OFSTED hadn’t existed you lot would have had to invent us just to keep going . There seemed to be a reference to Ofsted on every page.” Mr Lawson, who famously broke an ankle playing golf about the time Woodhead quit, will be spending more time risking life and limb on the links.
