Speaking of HMI, we hear of quiet satisfaction at the Inspectorate’s Victoria Quay HQ over the publication south of the border of Evaluation Matters, an OFSTED tome to sort out the alleged duff teachers.

Who better to pen an introduction than Chris Woodhead, chief inspector of schools and much-loved OFSTED boss. He begins with the five words: “How good is our school?” Surely this cannot be the same Woodhead who repeatedly rubbished Scottish self-evaluation methods while the rest of the world rushed to implement them. In case you forgot, the Scottish title is How good is our school?
