Nelson Thornes, publishers of Maths in Action, which is used in 70 per cent of Scottish secondaries, is extending the series to upper primary levels to create a seamless progression in maths teaching.

The Primary Maths in Action materials will mirror the secondary format but will be level based rather than year based to ease planning and record-keeping.

The new scheme for P6s and P7s starts this month with a full level D programme, including pupil’s textbook, teacher’s book and resource book of photocopiable worksheets. Level E is due to be published in April and level C in October next year and the other levels will follow.

The publisher is also bringing out a freestanding CD-Rom for level D in the new year as part of its new Can Do Maths series.
