World Book Day

World Book Day is on March 10. If you haven’t lined up your celebrity author or arranged a book fair, don’t despair: there are plenty of ideas for alternative events (including assembly themes, practical book-making activities and surveys of favourite books) in the World Book Day pack sent to schools at the start of term. The regional listings on www.worldbookday.com will show how schools on your patch have responded. Th latest update reveals emphasis on the “world” element, with many schools raising money to help schools in developing countries buy books, either through their own partnerships or via the charity Book Aid International. Last year, schools raised more than pound;40,000 for Book Aid. Details on www.bookaid.org, or the World Book Day helpline: 01634 295585. GB.
