UNITED STATES: The US will tomorrow urge finance ministers from the world’s seven wealthiest countries to press the International Monetary Fund and World Bank to put a major emphasis on funding education in poor countries. Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill said he would be pushing the new approach in Rome where G7 finance ministers are meeting to prepare for this year’s economic summit in Genoa on July 20-22. However, Oxfam has warned that not enough is being done by any of the G7 countries.
