* Well done Teresa Tinsley and Tamzin Caffrey for their informative article about languages (“Community of voices”, TES Teacher, May 6).

However, can we as Ted Turner of CNN did with “foreign correspondents”, drop the word “foreign”. I deplore the term “MFL” (modern foreign languages). It reduces the world we are trying to open to our pupils to anonymous letters.

Let’s call the subject “world languages” instead. That way we include the community languages that are part of modern Britain.
