Members of the NASUWT teaching union took part in a one-day strike at Darland High School in Wrexham last week in protest at the compulsory redundancies of eight teachers. Chris Keates, the union’s general secretary, accused the school of showing a “callous disregard” for staff and pupils. Wrexham council said the redundancies were necessary to plug a budget deficit of more than #163;290,000.
