There is still time to enter your pupils (up to key stage 3) for the TES Literary competition. They must submit 300-600 words on a person, place or incident important to them. Autobiographical pieces by writers David Almond, Jennifer Donnelly and Michael Morpurgo, designed to stimulate ideas, can be downloaded from the TES website. Michael Morpurgo, the Children’s Laureate, quotes from poems written by his friend Sean Rafferty, the subject of his piece. The poem “Rowan by the red rock” is published in Poems by Sean Rafferty (Etruscan Books). Full details of Write Away and entry form at www.tes.co.uk
