Schools are invited to submit applications now for next year’s Writers in Scotland scheme. The Scottish Arts Council programme, administered by the Scottish Book Trust, funds about 400 visits to schools a year, paying half the writer’s pound;100 fee, while the school pays the other half.

The new chairman of the SBT, Marc Lambert, would like to develop the Writers in Scotland scheme in future to include residencies and video resources on different literary genres.

Applications for writers’ visits between April 2003 and March 2004 should be submitted by January 31. www.scottishbooktrust.com
