A mother’s campaign for better teaching support for dyslexic children has been recognised by the Chancellor. Kate Griggs set up the charity Xtraordinary People when her son’s school failed to meet his needs. She wants all teachers to be trained to support children with learning difficulties. Her efforts were recognised this week when Gordon Brown announced she would receive a social-inclusion award from the Sheila McKechnie Foundation.
