Technology companies have become experts at turning verbs into nouns such is their thirst for making inanimate objects appear action-packed to attract attention-deficient kids. The latest is the new talk of the playground, Sony’s motion-sensing controller Move, which parents may be initially familiar with as it’s almost identical to that ever-so-popular wafty Wii thing that they may well have been conned into buying “for the family” four years ago, before losing once at bowling and leaving it to the little ones.

Think of Move as the rebellious, more grown-up version (more high-tech, more accurate, more difficult for anyone over 30 to get to grips with), which of course means it will be even more appealing to the Yoof. Whether it’s still flavour of the month when Microsoft launches Kinect (see? There’s another one) in November is a multi-million-dollar, potentially classroom-dividing question.
