The final straw that has prompted me to write has been the headline used for the story of President Obama’s children going to a Quaker school in Yorkshire (“Ee by gum! Obama’s girls for Yorkshire?”, The TES, January 23). I think you will find that nobody in that particular county says “Ee by gum”, a stereotype worthy of some of our less reputable tabloids and not something I would expect to see in your publication.
