Five thousand young people will be offered “green” work placements under a new government initiative. The Green Talent project aims to create the “environmental leaders of tomorrow” by giving 14 to 19-year-olds work experience at places such as the Eden Project in Cornwall and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. The scheme will start in May, with the first young people due to begin their placements this autumn.
