A poll of 500 people aged 16 to 20 found that 81 per cent felt strongly about issues such as crime and education. Three-quarters said they discussed current affairs with their friends and family, with global terrorism heading the list of "big issues".
Young people are becoming increasingly interested in politics, according to research.
