A Bolton schoolboy will be heard by more than 40 million listeners worldwide after he was crowned joint winner, with Katie Tozer, of the BBC World Services young broadcaster competition. Darryl Morris, 16, a pupil at Rivington and Blackrod high school, Horwich, will hit the airwaves next month. Schools with radio stations were asked to nominate young people for Generation Next, a week of World Service programmes, from December 2-10, giving a voice to today’s youth on issues that affect them.
