A Zimbabwean refugee who lied about his qualifications to get a teaching job in England has been banned from the profession for two years.

After escaping from the crisis-hit African nation, Rungano Jaraveza used forged degree certificates to get a job at Sir Frank Markham Community School, Milton Keynes.

A GTC panel said his actions were “misleading” and “dishonest”. Mr Jaravaza also lied about having a masters degree in social work.

Mr Jaravaza was given leave to remain in the UK as a refugee six years ago. He has a PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church University and an MSc in business management from Luton University.
