This is a resource package for teaching the New BTEC HSC Level 3, Unit 1 Human Growth and Development through Life Stages, A2 Intellectual Development and covers all that’s on the spec. It has a 17 page booklet you can add to or alter, which has presentation note pages for the 4 PowerPoints, activities and homework tasks so it’s pretty engaging and the student can print it of and refer to sections themselves for revision. There is an A2 exam paper and easy-to-use mark scheme to check progress on this section too. This covers all that is needed for the life stage Middle Adulthood (46-64 years-olds) If you are following my SoW 2023-2024 this is Week 6, there is less in the content delivery so this week is an opportunity to start preparing students for their PSA Task 1. There are activities and worksheets to work on independently and homework for both Level 1 and Level 2. All the spec content for Middle Adulthood is included in one presentation with 40 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. There are 10 activities for students to practice planning for the PSA in a visual steps format and then a written piece of work that is A4 but can be enlarged to A3. The content covered is:- Middle adulthood (46–64 years): • physical: at the end of this life stage the ageing process begins, menopause occurs for women • intellectual: can use knowledge and experience for complex decision making, may retire • emotional: may experience changes in self-image and self-esteem linked to retirement or ageing process, emotional wellbeing is based on attachment, security and contentment • social: may have more time to socialise All the resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need. Life Events; Relationship Changes and B2. Support that goes with the life events and the characteristic trait of emotional intelligence and resilience, which effects the capability to adapt to change If you are following my SoW 2023-2024, this is Week 15, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES. Susceptibility to diseases such as cancer, high blood cholesterol and diabetes. Biological factors that affect development – foetal alcohol syndrome, effects of maternal infections and lifestyle/diet during pregnancy, congenital defects. B3 Environmental factors that affect development Exposure to pollution – respiratory disorders, cardiovascular problems, allergies. Poor housing conditions – respiratory disorders, cardio vascular problems, hypothermia and anxiety and depression. This covers what the content for A2.Emotional and half the A2.Social Factors If you are following my SoW 2023-2024, this is Week 10, this now relates to PSA Task 2. There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There is literacy support and worksheets to capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. All the spec content relates to PIES development with the first presentation which is 32 slides covering all the A2.Emotional content. There is an A3 summary sheet for students notes and reference when completing the PSA Task 2. The second presentation is 26 slides and covers the below content of the A2.Social Factors. There is a third presentation which aims to raise literacy levels and gives students vocabulary prompts to enable students to access higher grades when writing up their PIES in the assessment work. The content covered is:- • fear • anxiety/worry • upset/sadness • grief/bereavement • happiness/contentment • security • attachment • supportive and unsupportive relationships with others – friends, family, peers and colleagues • social inclusion and exclusion All the resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need. This is a resource package, which consists of an 18 page interactive student booklet for the BTEC Health and Social Care Level 3 Unit 3 Anatomy and Physiology B11 Reproductive System and dysfunctions, which you can use as it is or make additions and alter. There are nine engaging PowerPoints and additional work sheet tasks and activities and you can add to or alter these to suit your teaching style. PowerPoints are well designed and have embedded videos in them, with booklet pages for students to make notes and example of possible exam questions that may be asked.
