About teaching in Wales
Schools in Wales follow the same national curriculum as England, except for the foundation phase which replaces the English Early Years and Key Stage One. Children enter the primary school system at age five before graduating to secondary schools at age 11. After taking GCSE exams at age 16 students have the option to proceed to further education.
