What’s your favourite subject and why?

Technology, because there’s lots of different ways to learn how to use the computer. I just love technology - it’s constantly evolving. I’ve got loads of gadgets: iPods, laptops, the lot. I also enjoy music, because I love playing the piano and the violin. The teachers are really nice too.

What do you think makes a good teacher?

Someone who is not too strict but able to keep order. They give interesting lessons and care about the pupils. They are patient with pupils when they are stuck but sometimes give them a bit of a challenge.

What do you most like and dislike about school?

I love all the different classes. The variety is massive - art, ICT, geography, maths, English. There’s not much I dislike but some pupils can be disruptive and stop lessons from getting on. That’s frustrating.

What’s the best lesson you’ve had?

We had to make Mardi Gras masks in art. Mine was meant to be a parrot but it didn’t really turn out. We also grew kidney bean plants from tiny seeds in science - we were doing cells and reproduction - and got to take them home. Unfortunately mine died. We went on holiday and I forgot to ask someone to look after it.

What stops you from learning?

Sometimes teachers phrase questions the wrong way and confuse me. Maybe they could give a few examples in the question.

What is needed to make a good school?

Great teachers are number one and lots of resources. My school is modern with interactive boards, a swimming pool, gyms, a computer suite and a library.

If you were a headteacher, what would you introduce at your school?

A three-day weekend and less work in all the classes.

What would you like to be when you are older?

A doctor. When my gran was in hospital I saw the doctors doing everything to her and all the machinery being used and the doctor was telling me what they were doing to help my gran. I thought it would be amazing if I could do that one day.

How do you think our society sees young people?

Because there is a lot about gangs people feel uncomfortable when they see a group of four or five young people walking along. Sometimes I feel I have to prove myself but I’m not going to hurt you at all.

What’s your favourite TV show?

The Simpsons. It’s so funny, I watch it just about every night.

What’s your most treasured possession?

My Leng medal (won in a competition for schools in Dundee and the surrounding area for singing in the Scots language). I won it in primary school for singing “The Massacre of Glencoe”.

What’s your earliest memory?

Being in my papa’s house and stealing his bonnet or flat cap.

If you had a superpower what would it be?

The ability to fly. I’d love to soar through the sky and do whatever, whenever - just limitless freedom.

What celebrity would you most like to be?

Chester Bennington from the band Linkin Park. He’s a complete American as you can tell from the name and he’s got a great voice.

What’s your proudest achievement?

Probably my Leng medal again. We had to go up to a room and sing for a person who had come in from another school. They graded us, which all took a wee while, and then finally said: “The winner is Liam Brown.” My heart stopped for a moment.

Lower taxes because I think we’re paying too much.

Not see children as bad people, not all the time. Sometimes they can patronise us a bit - that’s annoying.
