Collab Group's membership has now grown by more than a third since February

Activate Learning has joined the Collab Group, becoming the 35th member of the UK-wide college organisation.

It has become the third college to join this month, following West College Scotland and South Essex College.

Its membership has now grown by more than a third since February. Last month, the group announced it was changing its name from the 157 Group to Collab.

Activate Learning runs three further education colleges – Banbury and Bicester College, City of Oxford College and Reading College - and is the lead sponsor for four schools, including Reading UTC. It is supporting the development of vocational training overseas with programmes in south east Asia and China, and jointly manages four colleges in Saudi Arabia.

'A pioneering education group'

Group chief executive Sally Dicketts said: “The Collab Group shares our desire to lead change in the education sector to deliver the very best outcomes for our learners and local communities. Members share our belief that further education can drive the UK economy forward, by developing a pipeline of talented learners with the technical and soft skills required to maintain a competitive edge.

“This can only be achieved by working in partnership – with employers, with government and with each other – and I look forward to adding our voice to The Collab Group as it enters its next phase.”

Collab chief executive Ian Pretty, described Activate Learning as “a pioneering education group” with “collaborative spirit, entrepreneurial vision and outstanding expertise.”
