With just weeks to go until the Tes FE Awards 2019, anticipation in the sector is growing.

For the first time, the Tes FE Awards, sponsored by the Education and Training Foundation, will also host the presentation of the Association of Colleges’ Beacon Awards. Collectively, almost 100 providers, individuals and teams are in the running for the 19 awards.

And Tes can reveal that the host for the glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Friday 22 March will be comedian, author and TV presenter Dave Gorman.

Known for his visual storytelling and slideshow stand-up, Dave has been on the circuit for nearly 30 years. His shows regularly receive wide critical acclaim, and his latest tour With Great PowerPoint Comes Great ResponsibilityPoint has been twice extended due to popular demand.

Dave’s many TV appearances include TaskmasterQI and Have I Got News for You, as well as his own show, Dave Gorman: Modern Life is Goodish. A successful author, Dave has written works including Are You Dave Gorman? and Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure, which was number one in the Sunday Times non-fiction bestsellers list.

Dave will help to present awards in all our categories, including teacher of the year, FE leader of the year and overall FE provider of the year.

Individuals and institutions across the UK submitted more than 470 entries for the Tes FE Awards and AoC Beacon Awards - a new record.
