Thank you for the sparky and funny review of me and my book, The Crack in the Tea-Cup (TES, March 13).

You made one mistake which I’d like to correct. I was not “sacked from a west London primary for writing about an intransigent head”.

I disagreed with the headteacher of an adolescent unit for truants and school refusers where I was working about closing the school on a snowy afternoon.

I wrote about the incident and, gradually, thereafter, things were made so difficult I had to resign. But the local education office changed the rules as a result.

The point being that questioning authority can bring about change.
