ABI Smith, 29, an infant teacher at Row Hill special school in Dartford, Kent, lost pound;113 for going on strike last March over the London allowance. She reckons she would be pound;50 better off if the authority had deducted at the lower rate.
She added that the higher-rate deduction would deter her from taking further action, although she thinks the cost-of-living allowance, worth pound;3,105 in London and pound;792 in Kent, is “pitiful”.
She said: “The printable version of how I feel is that I am very unhappy.
I’m saving up to get married, and I cannot really afford to lose this money.”
