European Year of Languages 2001 This Europe-wide event is officially launched this month. Vive La France, at London Olympia from January 19-21, has much of interest to children (visit www.vivelafrance.co.uk). ChildLine Teacher’s Pack The helpline for children has launched a pack to help teachers and children discuss ways of resolving everyday worries and problems. It has been sent to all primary schools and is available free to parents and children who call 0800 169 1333 or visit ChildLines website: www.childline.org.uk.

ICT for learners with special needs The British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) has launched Breaking Down Barriers, illustrating how ICT can be used to help learners with special needs develop their literacy, numeracy and creative skills.
