Positive discrimination is absurd and unfair

It is as absurd to affirmatively accept poor children at top universities with lower academic grades as it would be to affirmatively accept rich kids at prestigious football academies with lower soccer skills (“It’s not lowering the bar, it’s levelling the field”, 9 March). Positive discrimination is inherently unfair and patronising, and in the long term doesn’t work. You cannot solve one inequality by creating another.
