Ever wanted to speak directly to the secretary of state for education? Ever wanted to explain just how tough life is for teachers or where government policies are going wrong?

Now is your chance to get it off your chest. The Department for Education has revealed plans for a conference call that will give any teacher the chance to directly phone education secretary Nicky Morgan.

Using a system previously employed by David Cameron and Boris Johnson, Ms Morgan will be taking questions from school staff from 5pm on Monday 15 December. The event will be chaired by Charlie Taylor, chief executive of the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

TES will also be part of the conference call, tweeting teachers’ questions and Ms Morgan’s answers.

This is the latest in a series of events undertaken by Ms Morgan to build bridges with the profession since she took over from Michael Gove, after his shock departure in the summer.

In the autumn she took part in a live TES webchat, answering teachers’ questions, and has since launched a consultation on teacher workload that received more than 40,000 submissions from school staff.

Ms Morgan said: “This country has world-class teachers who have put this government’s plan for education into action - and, as term ends, I look forward to taking their questions and thanking them personally for all their hard work.”

To sign up to the conference call, teachers need to register here. They will receive a call at 5pm, which will be free to them; once on the call, they will be able to ask a question at any time by dialling *3.
