* I read about the Dictionary of Playground Slang with interest (TES, October 31). I remember "ace", "plastered" and "pissed" from my own childhood. Nor are "well good"(surely derived from Orwell?), "sweet", "cool", "wicked", or "that sucks" new.
However, I disagree with Chris Lewis's decision to omit "offensive racist terms" from his dictionary. Like it or not, they exist and are used. I write as the possessor of an equal contempt for both censorship and political correctness. And branding a book of children's slang "adults only" is ridiculous; the kids use these words, after all, without knowing what they mean.
