Moving to Tes Timetable

In 2017, a major project conducted by the Catholic Schools Office, saw the transition of all their secondary schools in the region, 12 in total, to the Tes Timetable system. Liz Stokes, Education Officer Compass at the Catholic Schools Office for Maitland-Newcastle, supervised the project stating its goal was to ensure “the development of a community of excellence, building capacity and leadership within our network of schools”.

In the 12 months since adopting the Timetable software, St. Joseph’s has thrived under the new system. Administration Coordinator at St. Joseph’s, Joel Bristol, was quick to recognise the benefits of the Timetable and Timetable Daily programs. He mentions how easy the drop and drag facility makes changing student subjects, the ability to fix clashes being quick and pain-free, and changing a teacher or room straight-forward and seamless. In regards to Timetable Daily, Joel found the ability to interface with Sentral and Compass a welcome change to previous software. The day sheets were also invaluable in informing all relevant staff of the day’s changes.

Timetable’s commitment to working closely with Liz and the Diocese to maximise the capacity of the program ensured the project was successful. She notes, “Timetable offered a renewal and reflection of timetabling practices (many long held) and challenged a new way of designing an effective and functional school timetable to meet the diverse needs of our twelve schools, their staff and students”.

“The use of both of the packages have saved me hours of time in the daily organisation of the school.”
Joel Bristol, Administration Coordinator, St. Joseph’s High School
