Phonics: Letters and Sounds - Phase 4 (adjacent consonants

Phonics: Letters and Sounds - Phase 4 (adjacent consonants

A short phonics session on adjacent consonant (day 1, phase 4). * Starts off with a timer used for a quick recap of learnt phonemes. * It then moves onto HFW. * The following slide allows the children to read the words by segmenting and then blending. * Next the children are required to sort the words into real words and alien words (i.e. nonsense words). * Finally ask the children to read the sentence to apply their knowledge. (could possibly transfer to PPT presentation if SMART Notebook does not work)

Phase 3 Phonics Visual Discrimination Worksheets

Phase 3 Phonics Visual Discrimination Worksheets

Visual discrimination is such an important part of developing a child's reading ability, but it is so often an activity that gets left behind. Why not pair it with phonics practice? All your littlies have to do is scan the lines and circle the target phonemes/sounds when they see them. It'll help them to secure their visual tracking skills while practising their phase 3 phonics recognition. Turn it into a game by having your littlies race against one another, or give them stopwatches and let them race against themselves. These are great for literacy/English books and journals, or to laminate and use in phonics lessons. All based on the UK letters and sounds phonics scheme. As always, my products are made using the OpenDyslexic font to help our dyslexic learners. NOW FEATURING!! The first appearances from my alien classmates! Always popular in my own classroom, I've decided to start including the clipart on my products. Enjoy the (mostly) friendly critters! Includes: - Instructions. - 26 Visual Discrimination Worksheets (and some super friendly aliens!)

KS1 Christmas RE lesson - The shepherds visit Jesus

KS1 Christmas RE lesson - The shepherds visit Jesus

This is a plan for a Christmas RE lesson, with a focus on the middle of the story, when the shepherds visit Jesus. It is suitable for using with Key Stage 1. The plan includes a starter, a paired activity, a simple written activity and a plenary. The theme for the lesson is the special gifts we all have, such as being kind or being an understanding friend. It encourages the children to think about why the shepherds might have been chosen to visit Jesus. There is a PowerPoint presentation of the story to use and a template for written activity included in the price. The lesson could be used individually or as part of a Christmas RE unit. (The PowerPoint is also available without the lesson plan for £3 on Blossoming Minds' shop.)
