BIOLOGY 2 (for OCR specification A). By Mary Jones and Jennifer Gregory. Cambridge University Press pound;12.95.

This book is the only one linked to the OCR core specification and endorsed by that board. It has been assembled from various earlier editions in the Cambridge Modular Science series, with some reorganisation and new material. If you have access to these earlier editions, check their match to current OCR specifications to see whether the new book is necessary.

It is clearly laid out, with learning objectives at the start of each chapter and summaries at the end, with lots of self-assessment questions and answers at the back of the book. If you are new to the OCR syllabus and want a textbook linked to the specification rather than a good generic text, this one is worth considering.
