Build a geodesic dome from equilateral triangles made from pieces of cane, clad with plastic. Divide the interior into living spaces. Include furniture built from junk.
Choose a “house style” theme, such as “black and white” or “reflections”, and use it as a stimulus for designing a futuristic house and interior.

Ask students to take a digital photo of themselves and incorporate it in the ideal interior they have already created as part of their design work.
KS4
Broaden critical studies activities by studying the modernist movement in architecture. Look at flats, high-rise buildings and offices built from during the 1950s, and critically evaluate their effectiveness as living spaces and aesthetic forms within the environment. Use sketchbooks and redesign buildings where improvements are needed.
