KS 2-3 The national curriculum for art and design requires a balanced study of art from a range of different cultures, and Mughal art is an excellent starting point to explore the traditional art of the Indian subcontinent.

You can find examples at www.sancha.netPhotosmughal Compare and contrast these works depicting interiors with figures in western art of the same period and content, and discuss their differences in order to identify how differing cultural traditions presented similar subject matter in very different styles. Set up an interior with figures overlapping and intertwined, exploring practically the differing ways of depicting the same content. Ensure the figures are wearing rich costumes surrounded by richly decorated fabrics and furnishings, providing many opportunities to observe and record complex patterns and strong colours.
