Turn the whole class into one large dinosaur-like lizard creature, by joining a number of old bed sheets together and decorating with green paint and scales made out of paper. Construct the head from cardboard boxes, with holes for two children at the front to wear as they move forward on hands and knees. The rest of the class will follow, as the body, draping a section of the sheet over themselves as they crawl together in a long crocodile. One child will be the narrator while the rest of the class parade as the dinosaur. Loud dinosaur roars produced on an electronic keyboard will add to the realism.

Dinosaurs can be constructed from junk materials. Screw up newspaper as an armature for the body, neck and tail, and wrap it with plaster-impregnated bandage. Construct the head with strips of card and fabric with brightly painted balls for the fiery eyes and lolly sticks for the teeth. Build a habitat from tissue and crepe paper hanging from the ceiling, with the dinosaur suspended peering out from its leafy lair.

Pupils redesign a dinosaur incorporating fantastic features and defence mechanisms that would enable it to survive all of the problems that might have led to their downfall.
