Back to school

I have applied for a post at a primary school because I want to return to teaching after some time out. They want me to teach a 30-minute lesson.

Will this count against me?

It is common for schools to ask applicants to demonstrate their teaching skills. Focus on content and pace, and add a mixture of activities. Keep to the time and concentrate on the opening and closure, as these will leave the most impression. If you feel, after teaching the lesson, that you need help before returning to teaching, check with the Teacher Training Agencywhether there are any courses in your area to help you.
