(Photograph) - The Government’s latest teacher recruitment drive was launched during a visit to Bannerman High in Glasgow last Friday by Sam Galbraith, Children and Education Minister. Mr Galbraith is anxious to avoid creating an impression that this is a response to imminent teacher shortages. But he says more teachers are required in modern languages, physics, computing and maths. Government policies to cut class sizes in P1-P3 to 30 pupils have also created a demand. The coalition agreement between Labour and the Liberal Democrats commits ministers to create 500 new teaching posts over the next three years at a cost of pound;30 million.
