(Photograph) - Last supper: a legal battle to save Hackney Downs school was underway last week as teachers served Christmas lunch to pupils on what was probably the ill-fated east London school’s final day. The closure was recommended by a ‘hit squad’ sent in by Education Secretary Gillian Shephard though parents and pupils were fighting the decision in the Court of Appeal as The TES went to press.
