(Photograph) - Althea Rannie, 54,(left) is a “floating teacher” at the 620-pupil Comberton middle school in Kidderminster, Hereford and Worcester. She has a 40-period week.

Ms Rannie was prompted by the proposed changes to take early retirement at the end of this term instead of during the summer of 1998, as originally planned.
