“Everything has to change.” Although the speakers on the video Beyond my Backyard are not gloomy, they are realistic, thoughtful and believable. Young women from Sheffield talk about what it’s like to have an unplanned pregnancy. The video aims to make teenagers think about the consequences of their choices and the pressures that might make them difficult to resolve. It succeeds admirably. An accompanying discussion booklet suggests ways in which teachers and youth leaders can use the video to promote discussion of sex within life’s larger aims and purposes. Beyond my Backyard costs pound;15 (plus pamp;p) from Sheena Amos Youth Trust, 22 Collegiate Crescent, Sheffield S10 2BA. Tel: 0114 2261904.
